The Fishing Experience
Fishing is the centrepiece of the Nimbo Fork experience and it's as rich and varied as any other region in the world. Nimbo Fork has specially commissioned fly-fishing drift boats, which can be chartered for your expedition, ensuring a fishing experience like no other in New South Wales.

Nimbo's Winter Trout Ponds
When the local streams are closed, our Winter trout ponds offer great fishing too! A series of catch and release trout ponds have been constructed on the Nimbo Fork property to hold a range of rainbow and brown trout, male and female.
Weighing up to 5 lbs, in a variety of natural settings, these trout offer the perfect opportunity to hone your technique, experiment with different flies, and practice your casting before you venture into the rivers and creeks.
Local Rivers and Streams
The local Tumut River and its tributary, the Goobragandra River, are renowned for their trout fishing. A traditional tailwater fed from Blowering Dam, the Tumut River is a fast-running, cold water river, containing fish of all sizes. Narrower and providing some interesting terrain, the Goobragandra River is a mountain-fed stream with generally smaller fish. There are also a number of smaller streams in the Tumut system that provide challenging fly-fishing opportunities.
Snowy Mountain Scheme Impoundments
These impoundments provide a variety of fly-fishing experiences - Blowering Dam for boating, Jounama Lake for lakeside fishing, and further afield at Talbingo Reservoir and Tantangara Reservoir. Further into the mountains, a bounty of fishing opportunities await - the high country rivers of the Snowy Mountains, Lake Eucumbene and the headwaters of the Eucumbene and the Murrumbidgee Rivers, not to mention Lake Jindabyne and the Thredbo River.
Our guides
You'd be hard-pressed to find another region in the world, teeming with as many world-class fishermen. With impressive national and international resumes, Nimbo Fork guides are waiting for the opportunity to share their extensive knowledge of local spots with you.
